Author informations: The artist Ester Š. Martinčeková, nee Fridriková, studied at the State Grammar School for Girls in Bratislava (1919 - 1927). From 1927 to 1929 she studied at the Académie Julian in Paris while taking evening courses of nude drawing at École de la Grande Chaumiere. 1929 and 1930 she spent at the Académie de l´art moderne headed by Ferdinand Léger (her professors included Louis Marcoussis, Amédée Ozenfant and Alexandra Exter). Early on her painting career, Ester was among the outstanding and unique individuals of modern Slovak art.
