Farmanová Jana (1970)

Jana Farmanová is a Slovak figurative painter, active in the visual art since the end of the 1990s. She is one of the most influental painters of contemporary Slovak and Czech art scene, respected by viewers and artcollectors as well. She is a figuralist, who works with painterly gesture as a cultivated, concentrated  painterly building block. Her works are in collections of respected institutions such as: Nitra Gallery, Wannieck Gallery Brno (Czech Republic), Olomouc Museum of Art (Czech Republic), Sammlung Würth (Germany). In 2012 Slovart publishing house and Krokus Gallery published first monograph by Jana`s artwork, with the texts by czech art-historian Petr Vaňous, author Eva Borušovičová, poet Mila Haugová and with the profile interview by art-theorist Ivana Moncoľová. The second monograph is catalogue dedicated to the exhibition at Bratislava City Gallery (feb - april 2015) titled Under the Sign of Virgo.
