Alexandra Barth was born in Malacky and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, painting, Professor Ivan Csudai’s Studio in 2013. She lives and works in Bratislava. Her focus is on painting and the technique of cut patterns and sprays. Alexandra says about her works: “I want to make my own “portraits” in private as well as in working premises. At times I depict just spaces and objects capturing my point of view of them in specific circumstances at that moment. In my pictures I want to know the best I can the interconnection of persons with their setting and with the objects they work with and by doing so how they delineate themselves as persons in contrast with the surrounding world. How they manage to grab a piece of privacy and autonomy just for themselves and what is it they need to that end. I reduce details down to the core that is necessary for transfer of the intended content. It is somewhat as if I sought to create logos for them out of their objects and figures. What I want is to bring out the atmosphere and story of a scene as accurately as possible, by using the most economical visual means.”
